One of the things that has drawn me into the sport is how beautiful it is to watch. It is called the beautiful game for a reason. It isn’t always the number of goals, but the way in which they are done or the time at which they come that makes the game so dramatic. And there is beauty in the little things about the game. Watch Barcelona and the way they can pass the ball like there are no opponents on the field and you can see the beauty in their control of the game.
Aside from that, I’d like to add a bit more about the way that the beautiful game has inspired others to create their own beauty.
Today I’ll introduce you to the art of Richard Swarbrick. He has made a few videos that are his renderings of soccer moments. The first is Gareth Bale’s hat-trick against Inter Milan in the Champions League in 2011, followed by Barcelona’s demolishing of Real Madrid in one of the Clasicos of the same year. He takes the video and paints over the scene keeping just enough of the video to make it stand out, adds music and voila – art made from on-field artistry.
